About this cookbook
How the Gable family cookbook preserves recipes for the web, print, and the future.
A cookbook with a long memory
This site is one view of a family archive. Recipes are stored as plain Markdown files, photographs are kept at their original resolution, and Git records how the collection changes over time.
The website is generated automatically for easy cooking and sharing. Printed editions are designed by hand in Affinity so the typography, pacing, and family photography can receive the care of a real book.
If either tool disappears, the recipes remain readable.
The promise
- Markdown owns the recipe content.
- Original images remain recoverable.
- Git owns history.
- Affinity owns the physical page design—not the archive.
